I have written this draft on Sir F. dandford's minute without reference to the special items in the last account of Sir K. In which would not be sanctioned according to our account because it would raise several points which do not seem to have been definitely settled,
The Duke of B(4) sanctioned the Vessels which referred to Lord G to be straining allowance to the

"The purchase of two steam launches to assist the police in their duties in the harbour, and at the outstations
"The purchase of a schooner to be manned by the water police."
In 144 Mr Rennie gives an item $8,543.15 charged

which
this item was sanctioned as it stood: in the present accounts it is sub-divided into smaller items, besides construction, includes stores, repairs, fittings, gratuities to widows, allowances for extra service and 'Crew'
every month; it involves the maintenance of the vessels (which Sir F. Sandford presumes) & charges of the police that man them.
If it is intended that they should be manned at the expense of the Special Fund, there will
